Revelation 22

(Medium: Watercolor and Ink)

Today’s art is a response to Revelation 22:

Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be anything accursed, but the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever.

And he said to me, “These words are trustworthy and true. And the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, has sent his angel to show his servants what must soon take place.” (Revelation 22:1-6, ESV)

Nahum 1Medium: Oil on panel

Today’s art is a response to Nahum 1:

The Lord is a jealous and avenging God; the Lord is avenging and wrathful;

the Lord takes vengeance on his adversaries and keeps wrath for his enemies.

The Lord is slow to anger and great in power, and the Lord will by no means clear the guilty.

His way is in whirlwind and storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.

He rebukes the sea and makes it dry; he dries up all the rivers;

Bashan and Carmel wither; the bloom of Lebanon withers.

The mountains quake before him; the hills melt;

the earth heaves before him, the world and all who dwell in it.

Who can stand before his indignation? Who can endure the heat of his anger?

His wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken into pieces by him.

The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble;

he knows those who take refuge in him.

But with an overflowing flood he will make a complete end of the adversaries,

and will pursue his enemies into darkness.

Showers of Blessing(Medium: Watercolor)

Today’s pick is a response to Ezekiel 34:

“I will make with [my sheep] a covenant of peace and banish wild beasts from the land, so that they may dwell securely in the wilderness and sleep in the woods. And I will make them and the places all around my hill a blessing, and I will send down the showers in their season; they shall be showers of blessing. And the trees of the field shall yield their fruit, and the earth shall yield its increase, and they shall be secure in their land. And they shall know that I am the Lord, when I break the bars of their yoke, and deliver them from the hand of those who enslaved them. They shall no more be a prey to the nations, nor shall the beasts of the land devour them. They shall dwell securely, and none shall make them afraid. And I will provide for them renowned plantations so that they shall no more be consumed with hunger in the land, and no longer suffer the reproach of the nations. And they shall know that I am the Lord their God with them, and that they, the house of Israel, are my people, declares the Lord God.
